About Terence

Terence Dunphy is a pianist, composer, and jazz musician from the Chicago area, known for his versatility and skill in a wide range of musical settings. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Terence earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and Music Education in 2021, studying under the mentorship of renowned jazz pianist Gary Versace. While at Eastman, he played in the Eastman Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Bill Dobbins and competed in the inaugural Jack Rudin Jazz Contest hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center. Terence also played with the downbeat award winning Eastman New Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dave Rivello. 

Upon returning to Chicago, Terence launched his post-pandemic freelance career, performing at notable jazz venues such as the Jazz Showcase and Andy’s Jazz Club. He developed his reputation as a sought-after musician, both performing and teaching in the city and greater Chicagoland area. Currently, Terence is pursuing his Master’s degree in Jazz Piano at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in the studio of esteemed jazz pianist Martin Bejerano. Terence continues to enjoy playing music, composing, and freelancing in South Florida.

Throughout his career, Terence has had the privilege of performing with celebrated artists such as Doc Severinsen, Andrea Bocelli, and the New York Voices, as well as touring twice with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. With his endless passion for jazz, Terence hopes to continue experiencing and making his mark on the music world.
